How to become a Real Estate Agent

Every State in US requires all real estate agents or brokers to be licensed. You must be a high school graduate in order to apply for a real estate agent license. You have to be at least 18 years old and you must pass a written test to receive a real estate agent license. Written exam for real estate agents and brokers include general questions related to real estate transactions and any laws that affect real estate industry. Most states require candidates to complete 30 to 90 hours of in class instruction. Some states also require previous experience in selling real estate which can be waived for the applicants who have Bachelors degree in real estate.

Due to lot of competition in real estate industry and due to legal complexities many real estate firms require a candidate to be a college graduate. Even though college education is not necessary but any education in the field of real estate, finance, law, economics and business are helpful. If you are not planning on joining any real estate firm and instead you are intending to start your own company, business courses are very helpful.

A successful real estate agent must possess a pleasant personality and he or she must be very honest and trust worthy.

Ongoing education is very important for a real estate agent in order to keep up with this fast changing industry. Many real estate firms offer training programs for their new employees as well as experienced real estate agents. Colleges and Universities offer countless courses in real estate and in some a student can earn an associate or bachelors degree with a major in real estate.
