Becoming a notary public in US does not require special
training or experience and it is not very hard to become a
notary public. Most of the time applicant is only required to
pass a short test and undergo basic background check. Even
though notary public is a legal witness or administrator of the
oath he is not a legal consultant and it is not allowed for him
to give any legal advice, prepare any legal documents or
practice law in general. Duties of notary public do not extend
beyond the impartial witness on oaths, contracts and
documents.

have to do is apply for a position with National Notary
Association. Application generally only asks for contact
details and questions regarding candidates previous notary
experience if any. Applicants for notary public are then
required to pay required fees for the application and finally
they must take an oath of the office.
There are other steps that a candidate may have to take
which may include passing a test or obtaining a notary board
but these requirements vary from state to state so all
candidates are encouraged to consult their local authorities to
get any such information.
Even though there is no educational degree required to apply
for a notary public position but any educational background
related to law and business can be very helpful. Past
experience is also not a requirement but it is proved to be
very helpful. Many schools and colleges now offer courses to
help new notaries gain their commission.
